SUVs With Panoramic Sunroofs to Keep Your Passengers Tanned and Happy

A few years ago, SUVs with panoramic sunroofs were reserved for the luxury brands—they were expensive options found only on the highest-end offerings. Just as automatic windows were a spendy optional extra back in the day, panoramic sunroofs were a luxury many couldn’t enjoy. But nowadays, you see them in nearly every car.
Panoramic sunroofs make the cabin feel airier and more spacious, and they’re popular for both backseat passengers and parents who want to keep their toddlers entertained. We’ve compiled a list of some of the mainstream SUVs you can get today with panoramic sunroofs. Keep reading to see just how far the once ultra-luxe feature has trickled down for the masses.

2020 Toyota Highlander

The 2020 Toyota Highlander has entered a new generation, and in addition to its updated looks and interior, the three-row crossover comes with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine making 295 hp and 263 lb-ft of torque. The top-spec Highlander Platinum comes with a panoramic sunroof—and a 12.3-inch touchscreen—as standard equipment, but unfortunately that’s the only version you can get it on.

2020 Kia Sportage

The Kia Sportage might be showing its age, but the crossover boasts features like an optional panoramic sunroof that makes the cabin seem more spacious. However, this option is only available in the EX Sport and SX with the V-6 engine. Still, who would have guessed a decade ago that a Sportage would make the list of SUVs with panoramic sunroofs?

2020 Chevrolet Blazer

The Blazer is one of only a handful of two-row SUVs with panoramic sunroofs. Available as a standalone option on the 3LT, RS, and Premier trims, the big power sunroof will set you back an extra $1,595, but second-row passengers will surely thank you during longer road trips when everyone needs a bit of fresh air and Vitamin D.

2020 Fiat 500X

There’s no denying the Fiat 500X’s age, but for an extra $1,695 you can get a panoramic sunroof in yours. Available on the Trekking Urbana and Trekking Plus trims, the 500X is among the most affordable SUVs with panoramic sunroofs that you can get today.

2020 Jeep Cherokee

Starting with the Latitude Plus, the Jeep Cherokee can be optioned with a panoramic sunroof, but it will set you back almost $1,600. That’s the case with every Cherokee trim, but you have plenty of options to choose from, as the model comes in nine different trims. That’s not pocket change for a little extra sun, but the open-road feeling you get might just be worth it.

2020 Ford Escape

The Ford Escape is entering a new generation for 2020, and that brought a significant changes to the crossover by making it more car-like. Despite lower ground clearance than before, the Escape is one of the SUVs with panoramic sunroof as an option for the top-trim Titanium model, which brings along an extra cost of about $1,500.

2020 Jeep Compass

The Jeep Compass essentially replaced the previous-generation Compass and Patriot. But the current generation comes in different trims that come with standard and optional panoramic sunroofs. For a little more than $27,000 all-in, you can get the Sun & Wheel trim that comes standard with a panoramic sunroof, but if you prefer more equipment in other trims, you’ll have to check the full sunroof option.

2020 Subaru Ascent

The biggest Subaru ever comes with seating for up to eight passengers, standard all-wheel drive and the EyeSight suite of active safety technologies. The Touring trim is the only Subaru SUV with a panoramic sunroof as standard equipment, and at $46,055, it’s not a bad value.

2020 Volkswagen Tiguan

VW’s compact SUV is propelled by a 2.0-liter turbo engine, and though it’s far from being class-leading, the Tiguan comes with handy features. One of those is a panoramic sunroof that comes standard with the SE R-Line Black trim, which starts at $31,315—a good price if you’re looking for an affordable SUV with a view.

2020 Ford Explorer

Ford used the 2020 Explorer as an opportunity to dramatically change its three-row SUV, namely by ditching its front-wheel drive architecture for one that sends the power to the rear wheels. That change made the Explorer’s price skyrocket, especially for the top trims. The Explorer is yet another option in the category of three-row SUVs with panoramic sunroofs for buyers to choose.

Hyundai Santa Fe

With an aggressive design and spacious interior, the Hyundai Santa Fe is offered with two different powertrains. But if you want your SUV with a panoramic sunroof, you will have to stick with the 2.0-liter turbo that delivers 235 hp. The SEL trim with this engine comes standard with the panoramic sunroof, which should keep passengers happy.

Toyota RAV4

Toyota’s most popular crossover has been a hot seller, and that’s thanks to its looks, amenities, and reliability. The RAV4 Limited is one of the few compact SUVs with panoramic sunroofs. As part of the Technology Package, this option will set you back a cool $1,225.The post SUVs With Panoramic Sunroofs to Keep Your Passengers Tanned and Happy appeared first on MotorTrend.
